Our Mission and Vision
These statements were adopted as the Draft Mission and Vision Statements of our congregation on September 21, 2016 by our Board of Trustees. We will reflect on these together for the next few months, and will adopt final statements at a Special Congregational Meeting which will be called in January 2017. Look for these events in our events calendar.
Supporting each other,
Building a better Baltimore
We seek wisdom, truth and meaning and support each other’s spiritual journeys.
We create a loving and joyful community that encourages children and adults to grow together.
We celebrate our diversity and work toward developing cultural competency.
We build on the achievements of those who came before us to strengthen our church and pass Unitarian Universalism to future generations.
We express our differences in healthy, constructive ways, and stay engaged, even when the work is hard.
We partner with Baltimore communities to mutually transform.
We challenge injustice, brutality and ignorance with compassion, love and understanding.
First Unitarian Church of Baltimore is a vibrant, welcoming congregation. We are an urban church with open minds and hearts building lasting connections among diverse people. Drawing wisdom from sources both sacred and secular, we transform the lives and spirits of our congregation and our city. We create a joyful, safe and loving space, where music flows freely. We support each other in good times and bad. We bring hope as we work with our Baltimore neighbors to heal the wounds of racism, poverty and injustice.
We are the people we have been waiting for.
