Ours is a faith that recognizes ambiguity and change.
Therefore, our faith journey is one that takes a lifetime.
We take parts of the journey alone, but we understand the importance of
community in addressing the questions the universe asks us.
We gather as a community to find spiritual renewal and to support the work of
making peace, bringing justice, and deepening our faith.

Journeys of the Mind and Spirit
We encourage members to take classes in
Unitarian
Universalist history, principles, and theology as well as wisdom from other
world religions and critical issues
facing our society today. An array of programs -
from classes to open forums to small groups and informal discussions - reflects
the diversity and interests of our congregation.

Beginnings Class
Several time each year, we have a gathering for people who want to learn more about our Church, our faith, our history, and how one becomes a member. Come meet new people while learning about Unitarian Universalism at the same time. Participants are not obligated to join the church after attending the Beginnings Class. See our church calendar for the next Beginnings Class or check with a church member at the Welcome Table in the Pratt Parish Hall any Sunday after the church service. Sign up at the Welcome Table or email: Membership. We provide childcare if it is requested two weeks in advance.
Book Group
Led by our Affiliate Minister, Michael Franch, the group
meets on the 4th Thursday of the month (except Nov and Dec) in a member's home.

Cabaret
Fun and fellowship for the whole family. Cabaret Photos
Choir
Join the Choir and enjoy singing on Sundays and special occasions.
Our choir
provides anthems, leads the congregation in songs from our hymnal, and sometimes
gives us the gift of a solo rendition. They also produce an original Cabaret,
one of the most entertaining events of the year. The choir claims to be the
group that has the most fun, but you'll have to find that out for yourself.

Interweave
Part
social, part political, part educational, and part religious and spiritual,
Interweave is an informal group of First Unitarian congregants who represent and
support the ideas and issues of concern to members of our congregation who are
lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgendered, and their allies and friends.
Interweave accomplishes its mission through a changing array of interests, both
inside and outside the congregation, including hosting and co-sponsoring special
events, supporting local lobbying and activist organizations, and providing
leadership for the June Pride service at our church. Contact Chair:
Vernon Ray
Neighborhood Circles

who live in geographic proximity get to know and value one another at fun social gatherings
several times a year. Through Neighborhood Circles we strengthen our caring

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES:
Cooking for Our Daily Bread: Every month with a fifth Sunday we prepare food for the guests of Our Daily Bread. Come at 8:30 (Hamilton Street door of the Parish Hall) to start the preparation, a little later, if you like, to relieve the cooks and help clean up. Cold drinks, a snack - and fun!
Banner Neighborhood Reading Club: Help children reap the joys and rewards of literacy by volunteering.
BIHN (Baltimore Interfaith Hospitality Network): Work with First Unitarian members and other local congregations to provide support at a local shelter for homeless families.
BRIDGE: Bridge brings together area congregations and other groups to increase our voice on issues of importance to the life and spirit of the city and surrounding areas. BRIDGE has selected three areas for priority attention: housing and livable communities, crime and drugs; and education.
Interfaith Fairness Coalition: IFC exists to foster a welcoming embrace of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered people in membership and all positions of leadership in religious life.
For these and other opportunities to fulfill the mission of First Unitarian Church of Baltimore, contact Office Coordinator: 410-685-2330; Office.
