For members and friends of the First Unitarian Church of
Baltimore
who wish to extend their commitment to our liberal religion
and shared values beyond their lifetimes
Why Include the First Unitarian Church in a Bequest?
Our spiritual home, the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore, has provided ethical, moral, and spiritual sustenance to religious liberals for almost 200 years. Much of what we enjoy today results from the investment of past generations who protected and perpetuated Unitarian Universalist values for us. Now it is our turn. We must decide how we will carry our cherished values into the future for the benefit of others.
Methods
There are a number of methods for including the church in your estate plans using cash, securities (stocks and bonds), insurance policies, retirement plans, or real/personal property. The process can be as simple as filling out a form; or you might investigate an annuity or other life income vehicle that can actually enhance your current financial status. Each option offers tax advantages, but methods vary in flexibility and permanence and should be tailored to meet your financial goals. It is advisable to consult your attorney or tax advisor to determine your optimal tax benefits.
Invitation
As we prepare to enter our 3rd Century as a UU church, we invite you to join the tradition begun by past stewards of our liberal religion. We invite you to join the Heritage Society and perpetuate our religion for future generations just as others did for us.
The HERITAGE SOCIETY
Membership in the Heritage Society is a recognition of your commitment to the future of our church and of our liberal religion. By joining, you become a model for others to follow. We will publish the list of members here soon.
Named Endowed Fund
For some people a bequest provides an opportunity they would not otherwise have - a chance to establish a named endowment. Through an endowment, you may perpetuate an aspect of the Church that is of particular importance to you and, at the same time, honor a loved one in a meaningful way by naming the fund for that person.
