Lifespan Religious Education

“Education is not preparation for life;
Education is life itself” — John Dewey

The Lifespan Religious Education Program of The First Unitarian Church seeks to encourage spiritual growth and connection by providing opportunities for learners of all ages. Guided and led by volunteers, these programs and events enrich our connections to each other and the wider community. In addition to All-Church programs and events, we have specific programming as follows:

Adults — Religious Education programming for Adults includes one-time and multi-session classes as well as ongoing groups on a variety of topics, including world religions, spiritual practices, intellectual explorations and more.

Youth — Youth classes and activities are guided by the leadership of the Youth Adult Committee (YAC). Sunday morning programming has included role play gaming, musical instrument creation, general discussion and more. Programs and events are always underway.

Children - Our Sunday morning Religious Education program for children features Unitarian Universalist curricula tailored to our own congregation, led by volunteer teaching teams. The theme for 2009-10 will be World Religions.

In addition to the committee chairs listed along the right side of this page, the Director of Lifespan Religious Education is responsible for managing programs for all ages, including providing leadership, coordination and administrative support.
