We have two special initiatives for children in Religious Education this year. In addition to our regular curriculum Sundays, we will be hosting “Service Project Sundays” and “Celebration Sundays” each month.
Service Project Sundays:
On the first Sunday of every month, Lee Dix, Katie Davis, Karin Brown and others will be leading a special service project for all the children. It has always been a priority to lead our kids in learning to use their helping hands. This is the first year that we are dedicating one Sunday a month to make sure we dedicate the time to do it. In our first project of the year, this Sunday, we’ll be beginning a “Diaper Drive” to benefit My Sisters’ Place across the street. In coming weeks, our kids will be collecting donations of diapers, baby wipes, and other supplies to benefit our smallest neighbors and their families. I hope you’ll show your support of our own kids by bringing in donations. Note: sometimes the Sprouts will meet in their regular class with a related activity instead of joining the older kids. Stay tuned each month for what will be happening in your own kids’ classes. Service Project Sundays will be Oct. 7, Nov. 4, Dec. 2, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, Mar. 3, and Apr. 7.
Once a month, children in 6th grade and younger gather for “Celebration Sundays,†an age-appropriate chapel service designed just for them, including music, stories and sharing, to promote the spiritual development and expression of our kids. On these Sundays, families are invited to come directly to the Parish Hall at 11am instead of joining the adults in the sanctuary. After our children’s worship, we will go to the first floor classrooms for additional thematic projects. Parents and other adults are welcome to attend Celebration Sunday with your kids or go to the regular worship service. Led by Laura Laing, our Celebration Sundays will be Oct. 14, Dec. 9, Jan. 20, Feb. 10, Mar. 10, and Apr. 14.
See you in church!
